Spotify Wrapped 2025
Music lovers, your Spotify Wrapped dropped today - hopefully you took a few minutes to reflect on how much music you enjoyed this year, who your top artists were, and what songs you couldn't get enough of.
I ended my year on over 61,000 minutes listened and over 3,700 songs played. And that's the goal. Each week, I try to listen to ~50 or so new songs, so that alone gets one to 2,500 song pretty fast.
My wrapped looks a little different this year. Last year's 5 was full of my 90's favorites: Fuel, Bush, Creed, Pearl Jam, Live. Top songs were: Shimmer, Innocent, Falls On Me, Won't Back Down, Don't Say I - all by Fuel.
This year's wrapped still started with Fuel leading the way, my favorite band since 1998, 27 years and still going strong. Can't wait for their new album to drop in 2026.
The punk friendly, emo curious duo, Senses made #2. Strongly recommend checking out their two EP's from 2025: I'm Still Breathing and Onto Something.
Bush makes the list again. It certainly helps that they keep dropping new music. I Beat Loneliness is a solid album that comes on the heals of their best of album, Nowhere To Go But Everywhere and their Art of Survival album. (Love Art of Survival!)
New to the list this year, The Verve Pipe. You may know them from their hits on the Alt Rock Rewind like The Freshmen or Hero, but they also dropped new music this year with the Reconciled album. I kept coming back to "Dust" and "Hollow Bones" on this disc.
And #5 on the list, was Those Damn Crows. We had them as the number one album this year, which I stand by even if they ended up as #5 for artists listened to. God Shaped Hole is a fantastic listen, right up there with other really great rocks albums of the 2020's like Art of Survival or Pearl Jam's Dark Matter. It's no accident that I have it on vinyl and CD in addition to digital - maybe playing the hard copies hurt their chances of being higher than #5, who knows?
Still working to cut back the year end list, rather than being a list of 40, it's shaping up to be a list of 55, which I'll aim to post this weekend. The only artist here that won't make the year end list is Fuel, as their new music hasn't dropped. That said, once again - my top 5 songs this year were all Fuel with Hemorrhage (In My Hands), Innocent, Falls On Me, Shimmer, and Sunburn.
So how does your Spotify Wrapped look?
